As I was sitting on the couch last week trying to fight the urge of pushing the ‘next episode’ button while watching The Office, I decided to overcome the binge-watching fever.
I drove to Walmart, bought a bag of soil and purchased five disparate kinds of flower seeds. I grabbed five empty flower pots my mom had sprawled on the patio. Then I planted the seeds and thereof became Martha Stewart (or at least a younger, brunette version).
So far, my seven sunflowers have sprouted and I was unabashedly ecstatic when I woke up Friday morning to find the tiny green heads. The remaining four flowers (Evening Sun-Sunflower, Purple Coneflower, Delphinium and Forget-Me-Not-Blue Bird) have yet to grow.
Check back for more updates. I have hope my summer boredom nostrums will flourish and bloom in this ghastly August heat.
